At 1v1 Futbol Dreams Soccer Academy, our Grassroots Programming is built in alignment with the national standards set by Canada Soccer and implemented locally through Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) and Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA).
From U8-U12, Soccer is Soccer. There are no longer separate recreational or development streams. Instead, player experience is defined by the level of service provided — ensuring clarity for families while protecting both player development and club sustainability.
Our Grassroots model is structured to develop technically confident, intelligent, and creative players within a professional, organized, and development-first environment.
The Grassroots calendar operates within structured seasonal blocks to provide consistency for families while maintaining flexibility for clubs.
Each block operates as its own registration period, allowing families to plan accordingly while ensuring players receive a complete and developmentally appropriate soccer experience.
In alignment with provincial standards, we offer two levels of service delivery:
1 Training Session + 1 Match Opportunity Per Week
Grassroots 1 is designed for players seeking a balanced introduction to structured development. This level includes:
One structured training session per week
One weekly match opportunity (WYSA Match Day or In-house Match Day)
Festival participation
Focus on technical foundations and enjoyment
This level emphasizes ball mastery, confidence, 1v1 situations, and learning the game through small-sided play.
2 Training Sessions + 1 Match Opportunity Per Week
Grassroots 2 is designed for players seeking increased training frequency and an accelerated development environment. This level includes:
Two structured training sessions per week
One weekly match opportunity (WYSA Match Day or In-house Match Day)
Festival participation
Enhanced tactical understanding and decision-making development
With increased repetition and guided learning, players build deeper technical habits, improved awareness, and stronger transitional play concepts.
Match opportunities are a core component of Grassroots service delivery under national standards.
WYSA oversees centralized Match Days using a geographic lens to minimize travel.
On designated Member Match Days, clubs may host matches or deliver training sessions while maintaining standards.
Seasonal festivals provide additional game experiences in a community-focused atmosphere.
These formats prioritize player development, enjoyment, and appropriate competition over standings and results.
Our programming operates within the coaching pathway requirements outlined by the MSA. Coaches hold appropriate certifications (Active Start, FUNdamentals, Learn to Train or higher) to ensure:
Age-appropriate session design
Station-based training methodologies
Positive and safe learning environments
Consistent technical messaging across teams
Licensing standards are applied operationally across our program to maintain quality while ensuring accessibility.
All registered Grassroots players receive:
Official Training / Game Uniform
1v1 Futbol Dreams SA Backpack
We believe that wearing the badge represents pride, commitment, and belonging within our club culture.
At 1v1 Futbol Dreams SA, our Grassroots programming is built on:
Strong technical foundations at young ages
Freedom to be creative and confident
Guided discovery through repetition and challenge
Competitive environments rooted in development
Long-term player growth over short-term results
Our objective is simple: develop complete players who are comfortable on the ball, intelligent in their decisions, and prepared for future competitive pathways within the game.
